Application: Interface load cells are used in the steel and non-ferrous metals industries for flat rolled products, i.e. sheet and strip. They are specially used on guide rollers to measure tension. The load cells are typically installed under the bearing pad on each end of the roller. By summing the load cell outputs, the installation will provide readings which are proportional to tension. This general application is used in the following specific areas:
- Sheet and Strip Lines
- Cleaning Lines
- Galvanising Lines
- Slitting Lines
- Temper Mills
- Cold Reduction Mills
Load Cells: Normally the 2400 or 3200 Series Stainless Steel load cells are preferred because of the harsh environment. The 2400 and 3200 load cells are hermetically sealed. The 3200 can be supplied with 5 times overload protection. In less severe environments the 1200 Series Low Profile load cells may be used. These load cells are relatively insensitive to moment loads and temperature shift presented by this application.
Benefits:
- Moment compensation to minimise off centre loading errors
- High repeatability
- Temperature compensation to allow accurate performance in elevated temperature environments
- Barometric compensated
- 100lbf to 200,000lbf capacity
- Will survive the harsh steel mill environment
- Low deflection of only .001 to .002 inches
- 5 times overload protection available
Related Applications:
- Paper, wire, film, textile and printing where roll stock is manufactured or used
- Other tension applications where accuracy and reliability are required
